Course Overview

Portrait painting and figure painting have always been one of the measuring stones of an artists' skill, and humans the most painted and drawn subjects. When you think about it, it's not all that unusual that we should be so interested in the representation of the human face and figure. The reason is of course that we are interested in things that are close to us and what could be closer than what we are?

Join renowned digital artist and teacher Don Seegmiller in this 8 week online training workshop in taking traditional painting techniques, adapting them to new digital tools, and then tackling the ever popular and changing subject of portraiture. Don shares his years of epxerience in the field by giving you personal feedback on your work via our closed online workshop forum.

The digital tools that we will use are Photoshop CS 5.5 and Corel Painter.  Some videos will be included from past workshops that were done with earlier versions of Photoshop and Corel Painter. As a participant in the workshop you'll probably gain the most if you're able to use at least Photoshop CS 5. There are some new brushes available in that version and beyond that will make some of the painting process much easier.

A free version of Corel Painter will be provided to students of this course, time limited for the course duration.
