Cris Palomino has been using Painter professionally since its Fractal Designer beginnings. She was instrumental in pioneering the use of digital art while working as an artist at Disney Consumer Products and began teaching their traditional artists how to traverse the daunting gap from the pencil to the digital pen in classes designed to reach the artist and not just teach another computer class.

After studying art and illustration in Los Angeles, Cris worked as freelancer. During this time, she worked on graphics on the Amiga using Electronic Arts' Deluxe Paint where she helped beta and push the program through contact with the program's designer, Dan Silva. Her clients included Pepsi, a series on the supernatural named Secrets and Mysteries and the musical and Oingo Boingo, where she worked on concert graphics.

In 1990, she was hired by the Disney Consumer Products division where she worked on the re-introduction of classic Disney Comics such as Walt Disney's Comics and Stories (Disney's longest running comic book that started in 1940), Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge as well as a new line featuring some of the newer characters from Disney's movies. She headed production and worked with editor, Bob Foster, on pioneering a more elaborate coloring system. Cris colored several issues and was nominated for a Will Eisner award at the San Diego Comic Con, notable due to these being "children's comics" in an overwhelmingly Superhero field. Cris continued her career at Disney by being part of the team that introduced the new and incredibly successful Pooh line for the Licensing Division

As manager of Character Art in Licensing, Cris worked first hand with other artists and overseeing not only the Pooh-brand, but becoming proficient with characters from the Classic Feature films, The Princesses, Little Mermaid, and many others. She worked with a variety of media and manufacturing processes from concept art through to overseeing finished samples that were then sold through retail stores such as Target, Kmart, Walmart, J.C. Penney, Hallmark, Danforth Pewter, Fantasma, Mattel and many others. Cris worked on well over sixty 2D and 3D designs for character plates and sculpts through the Bradford Exchange. Her artwork has been utilized in products around the world through portfolios utilized by Disney licensees.

In 2003, Cris left Disney to pursue a freelance career again and continues to have Disney as a client as well as Warner Bros. and other companies. She is also part of a worldwide group of 3D artists known as MeshWorkz who steadily produce product for DAZ3D Here at CG Society, Cris was part of a team of artists from the Pixelcorps who entered the VFX challenge, The Big Freeze and won by successfully freezing Rio de Janeiro.
