Jon Rush is currently an employee of EA Bioware, where he is hard at work on his tenth major project, the highly anticipated MMORPG, Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Jon has been working in the video game industry since 2001. In this time, he has had the privilege of working with some of the top publishers in the world, such as Activision, Electronic Arts, and Eidos. Of projects he has had a significant contribution towards, over eight million units have been sold, spanning such titles as Tomb Raider Underworld, Tomb Raider Anniversary Edition, and Gun, to name a few.

Originally attending college as a Studio Arts major with a focus on trompe l'oeil painting, Jon realized how he could merge two life-long passions into an opportunistic career – art, and video games!

'Learning how to make my creations come to life, in a way that I could interact with them in a 3D environment, was an exciting and surreal experience. Going a step further, becoming part of a specialized team, and seeing this effort put to work and displayed on store shelves, has been an absolute dream come true.

Jon has been an avid member of the CG-Talk community for many years, posting under the nickname 'Ancient-Pig.' He is always striving to learn more about his craft, and enjoys helping others, through online critiques and demonstrations.

Modern Game Character Creation
with Jonathan Rush

If you want to jump head first into Modern Game Character Creation then come join Lara Croft (Tombraider Underworld) modeler Jonathan Rush. In this nine week course, Jon is stepping up to take you under the hood of the 'character art hot rod,' where students will learn the 'ins & outs' of successfully creating video game characters within a studio mind-set.

Students will learn by doing! Not only will students learn the successive phases of character creation based on a simulated game studio pipeline, but they will have their own unique creation to show off at the end. The assignment: choose a retro video game character, and create a new version of how he/she/it would look if subjected to a next gen make over. Jon will help you take this from concept to completion- the sky's the limit!

This is not a class for absolute beginners. Students should have a basic working knowledge of the required software for the class. Please read the Student Requirements carefully before registering for this class.
