Registration: Closed

Do you want to jump head first into digital compositing? Because CGSociety is thrilled to repeat Compositing with Shake with Senior Compositor, 2D Technical Director and digital compositing author Steve Wright. Steve is a senior industry veteran in digital compositing with over 60 impressive film credits such as Blade: Trinity, Ray, Solaris, Traffic, U-571, Air Force One and many, many more.

Drawing on his vast years of experience, Steve will guide and mentor students on the powers of digital compositing with Shake 4.1. (used by Weta on Lord of the Rings) This course is designed for those that are new to Shake or new to digital compositing and works through the core competencies required for compositing visual effects shots today. Each week you will download training videos along with exercise footage that will walk you through compositing bluescreen and greenscreen shots, CGI elements and digital matte paintings. The workshop then goes on to build basic skills for creating photorealistic composites as well as rotoscoping and matte extraction challenges that use high quality feature film elements provided by Steve.

An added bonus is that shots completed in Steve's workshop can be added to the students showreel because the source elements are from Steve's own personal library of feature film scans and HiDef video and have no copyright constraints.
